Thank You For Your Part in WordCamp Cincinnati!

As WordCamp Cincinnati 2017 comes to a close, we would like to thank our sponsors, speakers, attendees and volunteers for another spectacular event.

We had a fantastic turnout this year, where participants enjoyed a friendly atmosphere in which socializing and networking were actively encouraged. Speakers provided engaging and informative content. Sponsors were able to connect with those who would benefit most from their services. Volunteers received the gratification of building a WordCamp community from an abstract concept into a vibrant reality.

If you weren’t able to attend a session for any reason, fear not. All presentations were recorded and will be uploaded to WordPress.tv in the near future.

Did WordCamp whet your appetite for all things WordPress? Feed that hunger by joining our monthly WordPress Cincinnati Meetups.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on the experience of WordCamp Cincinnati, so please fill out our event survey. Our planning committee will closely review any and all feedback for consideration in improving WordCamp Cincinnati in the years to come.

We hope you enjoyed your time this weekend, and we look forward to seeing you again next year at WordCamp Cincinnati 2018!

Keynote Announcement: Dustin Hartzler

We’re excited to announce that Dustin Hartzler will join our speaker roster as presenter for the keynote session of this year’s WordCamp Cincinnati. Hailing from nearby Dayton, Ohio, Dustin will share his advice on how you can become a part of the WordPress community with no coding required. Community is a core tenet of all WordCamp events, and we are glad to bring you a keynote session fitting of this theme.

Dustin Hartzler

Dustin Hartzler is a Happiness Engineer at Automattic by day, where he helps business owners work all of the kinks out of their WooCommerce stores. If working with WordPress all day wasn’t enough, he spends time each week recording his WordPress podcast called Your Website Engineer. He enjoys helping people understand and use WordPress to its fullest capacity and spends time tinkering with code.

When he’s not in front of the computer (which is rare), he enjoys spending time CrossFitting, reading and traveling. He lives in Dayton, OH with his wife, 3.5 year old daughter, and 6 month old son.

Register to Attend

Calling all volunteers! WordCamp Cincinnati is looking for the interested, the motivated, and the undeniably warm and fuzzy-feeling individuals who want to give back to their community! We plan on having a larger audience compared to last year, and thus will need more roles filled!

Roles we’re looking for include:

Setup/Cleanup – Coordinating with the University of Cincinnati to have the rooms and hallways ready for speakers and audiences alike!

Registration – These individuals will be tasked with ensuring that all attendees find their way into the event easily.

Emcee – Not afraid to speak publicly? Do you have a personality that will get audiences to see your side of things? Maybe an Emcee position is just for you!

Speaker Assist – Maybe they need their computer connected, or maybe they just need a bottle of water – the small things can lead to an overall much happier speaker and WordCamp experience.

Catering Setup Assist – Help ensure the catering process operates smoothly. Nobody wants to be around “hangry people”.

Happiness Bar – Due to overwhelming popularity, the Happiness Bar is back! Those who have a deep understanding of WordPress and/or web development in general can lend a hand to help others in need of a fix or opinion for their website.

Photography/Videography – To those of us who love sharing their experiences with the rest of the world, consider the role of a photographer or videographer! We need some people to help create awesome assets so we can spread the word about our community!

Volunteers will receive free admittance to the event, including all benefits therein and a special-edition “Cincy Crew” t-shirt.

Call for Speakers

We’re happy to announce that WordCamp Cincinnati 2017 is officially accepting speaker applications!

The 2nd annual WordCamp Cincinnati will be held November 11-12, 2017 on the campus of University of Cincinnati.

We are excited to bring together WordPress enthusiasts from around the community to celebrate all things WordPress. We appreciate the varied talents and perspectives that developers, content creators, designers, etc. bring to the WordPress community. Following the great success of our 2016 event, we’re looking to build a program packed with amazing presentations which reflect the talent, creativity, and enthusiasm of our local WordPress community, and we want you to be a part of it!

What We’re Looking For

We’re particularly interested in hearing from those who have used WordPress in interesting, innovative, and significant ways. Whether the open source software was used to deliver something technically interesting, or whether WordPress was the foundation for creating something meaningful in the community, we want to know about it. We’re also looking for speakers to talk about how they use WordPress to grow their business, develop advanced plugins, tell their stories, and much much more. Everybody has a unique WordPress story to tell, and we want to hear yours.

Looking for more inspiration? Check out presentations from last year’s event.

What’s the Word on WordPress?

WordPress is a free, open source platform that enables quick and easy website, blog, or app development. The core software is built by hundreds of community volunteers, and when you’re ready for more there are thousands of plugins and themes available to transform your site into almost anything you can imagine.

WordCamp Cincinnati will be held November 11-12, 2017 at the University of Cincinnati, in the Tangeman University Center.
